A Message from Pastor
Brian....
Thank you for taking the time to visit Applegate Community Church’s (ACC)
website. I hope that you find it helpful in providing the information for which
you are looking. As pastor and one among several elders serving here at ACC, I
want to share with you my vision for ministry.
I
believe that my greatest responsibility as pastor is to devote myself to prayer
and to the ministry of the word (Acts 6:4). The people of a local church need
more than a businessman, administrator, or charismatic personality; they need a
man of God. I believe that to the extent I devote myself to prayer and to the
ministry of the word, I will be that man (by the work of the Holy Spirit).
Toward that end, I want to make prayerful preaching and teaching of the word of
God the foundation of my ministry. I am thoroughly convinced that God chooses to
use His word not only to bring about salvation (Romans 1:16; 10:17), but to
bring His people to greater spiritual maturity (1 Peter 2:2; 1 Thessalonians
2:13).
I
am committed to expository preaching, because I am convinced that God chooses to
work by His Spirit through His word. This is a commitment to bringing a message
from the text of Scripture rather than to the text. It is driven by the
conviction that divine authority and power for change comes from the Bible and
not from the preacher.
Whether a skeptic, a nonbeliever, or a committed Christian, I hope that you will
find Applegate Community Church to be a place where God is glorified because His
word is taught, lived, and loved.
In
Christ,
Brian Johnson

These things are still of interest to him
and he may enjoy them on occasion, but because he now has a family and has
the privilege of being a pastor, his interests have changed: Spending time
with his wife and kids, theology, history, anything that will help him
